Downtown Hood River
The downtown area of Hood River is built into the hillside rising up from the Columbia River. It is the heart of Hood River and has the most history. Many of the buildings and homes here date back to the late 1800's or early 1900's. In the last 15 years the growth and subsequent economic boost has made it possible for many homes and local businesses to renovate these older structures. Most all of the renovations were made in such a way as to reflect the architecture and design of the originals. This has kept the downtown area charming and very desirable from a residential standpoint.
